Congratulations to our Auckland U18 Men who were crowned 2024 Champions at the Vantage U18 Men’s National Tournament in Hawkes Bay.
Taking on old foes Canterbury, Auckland got off to an incredible start with quick-fire goals to Raynish Patel in the first minute, before Julius Sailer doubled the lead just two minutes later. Angus Bannatyne made it 3-0 in the 37th minute, before Canterbury pegged one back in the final quarter.
Led by Captain Harrison Stewart, Head Coach Thornton McDade, U18’s Programme Lead Coach Clive Daniels and Manager Dave Wigmore, the Auckland U18 Men built on a strong campaign in 2023 which saw them claim bronze.
Meanwhile in Christchurch, the Auckland U18 Women’s team claimed bronze medal with a strong performance defeating Hawkes Bay 3-1 also in their playoff match. Poppy Webb (11th min) and Michayla Lilii-Moa (14th) got Auckland off to quick last too, with Lona Charlick (41st min) adding the 3rd. Hawkes Bay pegged one back in the fourth quarter (54th min). North Harbour won the women’s final 3-1 vs Manawatu.
Special congratulations to Poppy Webb who was the top goal scorer with 8 (4 x FG, 3x PC & 1x PS) at the Vantage U18 Women’s National Tournament.
