Auckland Hockey, founded in 1903, is the largest hockey organisation in Aotearoa, New Zealand. We cater to a diverse community stretching from East to West, Central and South Auckland. Auckland Hockey supports over 6,950 registered winter players, 3,100 summer players and 4,400 children and young people through in-school participation.

Our region has a proud representative history with our elite Men’s and Women’s National Hockey Championship (NHC) teams and a range of Representative teams from U14/16/18’s to Masters from 35+ to 70+. Auckland Hockey oversees representative, club and school Hockey within the region, including our 12 Principal clubs and responsibility for facilities at Lloyd Elsmore Park. We are collaborating with  Auckland Hockey Facilities Trust for the development of new facilities at Colin Maiden Park and developing a new operating and ownership model in the near future.

Auckland Hockey helps support the development of coaches and umpires (in partnership with Auckland Hockey Umpires Association), providing a range of programmes and courses from grassroots to representative.

Our organisation uses a range of communications channels including website www.akhockey.org.nz, Instagram, Facebook and our own AKH app to keep everyone informed. Our website hosts a variety of documentation including our Board’s Strategic Plan, and other resources for club and rep player.

Auckland Hockey is a not-for profit organisation and Incorporated Society.

Ideal Applicant

We are currently seeking three candidates for appointment through to the next AGM in 2025. Ideal candidates will have some or all of the following:

Proven governance experience

• Strategic thinking abilities
• Financial acumen, preferably ACA level
• Strong operations and/or marketing/revenue generation experience
• A commercial perspective
• Exposure to, or experience in a not-for-profit environment
• Experience in leading boards and/or subcommittees would be beneficial

In addition to these skills, candidates should demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting the work of Auckland Hockey and embody the values of Teamwork, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence. We welcome applicants from suitable candidates either with or without a hockey background.
