Our new turf partners Polytan are installing the 2024 Paris Olympic surface alongside an upgrade to LED Floodlights on Turf One.

Auckland Hockey CEO Manoj Daji said “we are thrilled to be able to complete the turf and rubber base replacement and upgrade of floodlights to LED on Turf One, alongside some important building repair work over the summer months. With the invaluable support of our funding partners we have been able to work through the challenges of the pandemic over the past couple of years to get our essential CAPEX projects underway. Just as important is the alignment to our strategic pillar of sustainability in our new 2027 Strategy. The 2024 Olympic turf provides opportunities for Black Stick, Rep and Club athletes and teams coming from overseas.”

The renewal is scheduled to be completed at the end of the month, ready for the start of our Senior Winter Competition in April.

Polytan General Manager Cody Linton stated “the Paris 2024 Olympics will be the 8th Olympics on Polytan’s Poligras turfs, and we are excited that Lloyd Elsmore Park will now have the 2024 Paris Olympic turf. Made from 80% sugarcane, this is the world’s only carbon zero hockey turf, and it will be the first one installed in the southern hemisphere. Hockey is a progressive support and is embracing green technology, and it is great that Auckland Hockey is leading the way.’
