Premier Hockey League is almost here!
The countdown is on as we are now a week away from the first-ever Premier Hockey League which will see the top players from across New Zealand come together to battle it out to be crowned the Premier Hockey League Champions. The competition will double as a selection event for the Vantage Black Sticks as they rebuild towards next year’s postponed FIH Pro League and the Tokyo Olympics.
Congratulations to everybody involved with our AKH community involved across the board from Club and AKH Representative Players, Umpires, Coaches and Support Staff! We look forward to seeing those selected to represent not only Hauraki Mavericks but spread across all four regions! We can’t wait to see the games!
All matches in the inaugural league will be played at Waikato Hockey and matches will be free to attend. If you can’t make the trip down the SH1 Expressway you can catch ALL matches live and available free on Sky Sport NEXT with selected matches able to be viewed on a Sky Sports channel.
The four teams and the geographic regions they represent are:
NORTHERN TRIDENTS – from Northland to Auckland
HAURAKI MAVERICKS – from Auckland to Taupo
CENTRAL FALCONS – from Taupo to Wellington
SOUTHERN ALPINERS – the South Island
