Capital Projects Update

Auckland Hockey is responsible for the delivery of hockey across wider Auckland. We work closely with Auckland Council, Auckland Hockey Facilities Trust, Aktive, community funding partners as well as schools and community turf providers to ensure we have the facilities required to deliver our sport across  all ages and stages.

We have a number of key capital projects in the pipeline, including the construction of two new turfs at Colin Maiden Park. See below for the latest updates on the various Auckland Hockey and community turfs across Tamaki Makaurau.

Lloyd Elsmore Park (owned by Auckland Hockey)

Thanks to the generous support of Auckland Council and Four Winds Foundation the turf renewal of LEP 2 and upgrade to LED floodlights was completed in May 2025. Our turf partners Polytan installed the Paris GT Zero turf, the worlds first carbon zero turf, the same surface as LEP 1.

Colin Maiden Park (owned by Auckland Hockey Facilities Trust)

Thanks to the generous funding support of Auckland Council, Foundation North, Lottery Community Facility Fund, Grassroots Trust, Four Winds Foundation, Polytan, TTCF and Blue Waters Community Trust turf construction begun in January 2025. The first stage of the project, turf construction is due to be completed in January 2026. Stage 2 is the installation of floodlights and irrigation.

Waitakere Hockey Turf (owned by Waitakere Turf Trust)

Waitakere Turf Trust are working toward renewal of their turf over summer 2025/26, another significant milestone for this important community turf following the construction of the pavilion in 2022 and LED Floodlight Upgrade in 2024. The Trust have recently secured $400k in funding from Auckland Council, $75k from NZCT and $11k from Bobby Foundation to help toward the project. With less than $100k to raise to begin the renewal project we expect the surface will be ready for Winter 2026!
