Auckland Hockey’s Annual Golf Day was a sunny success, held on Monday 11 December at Maungakiekie Golf Course in Mt Roskill. After initially postponing our September event due to rain we were thrilled to be able to host our annual fundraiser, which saw 14 teams participate.
We had a number of sporting icons playing including 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist and AHA Life Member Jeff Archibald, Auckland Hockey and Black Sticks legends Ryan Archibald, Marcus Child and Jared Panchia, along with current Auckland Men’s NHC player Joe Crooks as well as former Kiwi’s rugby league international Richie Barnett!
We also had a couple of Vantage Black Sticks Men’s teams entered including players Dylan Thomas, Aidan Sarikaya, Hayden Phillips, Dom Dixon and Coach Greg Nicol! Thank you to all of teams for your support including teams from our partners Just Hockey and South Auckland Motors, as well as White Refrigeration who were a hole sponsor.
All funds raised will help contribute a hand-up for Auckland Representative athletes who need support with their representative costs in 2024.
The winning team of Ryan Archibald, Mark Gardiner, Chris Luxmore and Mark Ewart received the President’s Cup from Auckland Hockey President Ray Parmenter. Winner of the Longest Drive was Tim Stokes and our 2022 tournament winner Raj Pancha took out Closest to the Pin.
We’d like to thank the team at Maungakiekie Golf Course and the generosity of Just Hockey and individual donors for donating their generous prizes and auction items for the event.
We look forward to seeing you all back next year!
