Auckland Hockey COVID Vaccinations Policy and Covid Vaccination Certificates (CVCs) required at LEP from December 3

On Friday December 3 Auckland will be subject to the new RED light level of the Covid Protection Framework (CPF)  or “Traffic Light Framework”.

Taking into account our recent work in completing associated Covid-19 Risk Assessments for Employees and Participants and Spectators, we inform you that Auckland Hockey’s Employees, Contractors, the LEP site,  and participants and spectators at associated events and programmes at LEP, will require Covid Vaccination Certificates (CVCs) from December 3.

We are joining with many other NZ Businesses and Organisations in this regard, including other Hockey Associations with Clubhouses and licensing requirements.

We are taking the approach of mitigating risks in order to deliver our hockey experiences fully and effectively  for our staff and stakeholders and to enable them to enjoy the summer freedoms associated with being double vaccinated. The new policy does not apply to participants and spectators who may have the requisite medical exemption or are under 12 years of age.

In arriving at our final position on this policy we considered MOH, SNZ, HNZ, MBIE and Auckland Council Guidance on this matter as well as the views of our Employees and Presidents.

It was clear to us that to open appropriately, fully and effectively to offer Summer team competitions and hospitality to our members, that LEP would need to be a CVC Required Site.

That means that all members, players, coaches, umpires, and guests eligible to be vaccinated (12+ years of age) will be required to show proof of their My Vaccine Pass to enter LEP.

Our staff or delegates will scan your My Vaccine Pass using the NZ Pass Verifier App or sight your hardcopy. This has been trialled in the last week with our Masters and RPC athletes without issue. We will over the next while  develop a system for collecting player details, so players who regularly come into LEP will have their details collected with their registration, so may not need it checked every day.

For clarity, anyone who is eligible to be vaccinated who is unable or unwilling to provide their My Vaccine Pass will be declined entry to the LEP stadium.

You may be requested to provide proof of age for you or a child in your care, if they are thought to be over 12-years of age.

At this stage LEP remains a Vaccine Required Site at all levels of the CPF – Green, Amber, or Red, with review noted below.

Face masks are still encouraged outside (except when playing) and are required should you want to come inside the Pavilion at LEP.

Everyone who enters LEP is still required to sign in with the Covid Tracing App.

We don’t know exactly how all of the above will be managed yet at other turfs on school sites in Auckland and will keep you updated on this. We do know that the AGS Turf is a CVC site.

Throughout the COVID Pandemic Auckland Hockey has taken its responsibility seriously to ensure we keep you, our staff, coaches, umpires and contractors, and our whole Auckland Hockey community  as safe as possible. In the last three weeks we have successfully navigated a safe return to the turf in preparation for the RED light level.

Aligning with public health advice, we again strongly encourage  you to get vaccinated if you haven’t already  and we look forward to welcoming you back. Please follow instructions on loading your My Vaccine Pass via the Covid-19 Contact Tracer App and/or downloading your CVC on the Ministry of Health’s COVID19 website.

Our full COVID Vaccination Policy is on our website as well as some FAQs about CVCs. Please note we will be keeping a close eye on developments in this space(Legislation, Guidance)  and that the Policy and FAQs are subject to review with the first review by the Board and CEO scheduled for February 2022.

We look forward to seeing you back this weekend and in advance  thank you for your co-operation and kindness towards one another.
