Auckland Hockey’s AGM on Saturday 10th of April saw the election of Chris Arthur and Peter Lowndes as Elected Board Member of the Auckland Hockey Association. Congratulations and thank you Chris and Peter for your commitment to Auckland Hockey.
Chris Arthur will continue to contribute to the AKH Board with her wealth of hockey knowledge as a former Black Stick, Olympian, current AKH and National Masters player and through her role as Head of Athlete Life for High Performance Sport NZ.
Peter Lowndes continues his tenure on the AKH Board. For the last 10 years or so Peter has been a playing member of NZ Masters teams that have played at the World Cup in Spain and in Trans-Tasman clashes with Australia, and is also part of Hockey NZ’s community team looking after National Masters.
The 2021 AGM also saw the retirement of Board Member Paresh Patel. AKH CEO Manoj Daji thanked Paresh for his 6 years of selfless service, noting the following achievements:
- 6 unqualified audits
- Oversight of the transition to an efficient external accounting system
- Creation of the Audit, Finance and Risk sub-committee of the Board along with Robyn Neil.
- Leadership and successful navigation of the association’s finances through the COVID pandemic of 2020.
- Leading the establishment of the Auckland Hockey Facilities Trust to protect the capital assets of Auckland Hockey.
Manoj thanked “Paresh for his professionalism, diligence, and care in exercising his board member duties and thank you for agreeing to remain on the AKH Facilities Trust Board. With a stellar Hockey career of close to 50 years ending for Paresh (with the highlight of representing NZ at the 1992 Olympic Games) we wish you well as you turn your attention to more leisurely pursuits”.
