A Wonderful Slice of History from 85 years ago!!
This week Auckland Hockey Association CEO Manoj Daji received a great reminder of the past with an email and link to a scrapbook from Enver Masud, son of the famous MN Masud, member of the 1935 touring India team (revered around the world as the Invincible’s of Hockey and captained by Dhyan Chand, considered the father of Indian Hockey) who was presented with a scrapbook of the 1935 tour by a selector from the Auckland and NZ Hockey Associations.
Newspaper clippings from the scrapbook may be seen at https://www.twf.org/bio/HockeyAlbum/index.html
In 1936 MN Masud became an Olympic gold medallist, later private secretary to M Azad – Chairman of the India Congress Party and India’s first Education Minister, UNESCO mission chief, and ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
