2024 AGM – AHA Board, Office Holders and 33rd Life Member confirmed

Auckland Hockey held it’s AGM on Saturday 20th April at Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga.

Following the recent resignation of Carron Jerram and Simon Taylor, both elected members, there were five board vacancies at the 2024 AGM to vote on. We would like to take this chance to firstly thank both Carron and Simon for their vast and selfless contributions to AHA over their board tenures. Their support and dedication has been unwavering.

We are proud to report that the five newly appointed Board Members are Sarah Anderson (Somerville Hockey Club), Marc Dudley (Western Districts Hockey Club), Khush Kullar (Waitakere Hockey Club), Jenny Pooley (Somerville Hockey Club) and Mark Robinson (Howick Pakuranga Hockey Club).

Pam Elgar was also elected as President, succeeding Ray Parmenter who recently announced his retirement from the role which he has served admirably for the past 12 years. We would also like to thank Ray for his service, dedication and support too, his contribution has been immense.

Pam Elgar will also act as Chair for the first six months while the new Board establish themselves as a team and appoint a Chair going forward. Pam’s elevation to her new role has seen Patricia Rangi (AHUA) elected as Women’s Vice-President. Congratulations to Patricia on her appointment, which is wonderful recognition of Patricia’s contribution to AHA and regard within which the community hold her.

Irene Ryan was also elected unanimously as a Life-Member of Auckland Hockey. Congratulations to Irene, another wonderful accolade across her decorated Hockey career and recognition of her ongoing contribution and commitment to the sport. We look forward to recognising Irene in front of her peers and loved ones in due course.

At the AGM, the appointment of James Sutherland as Auckland Hockey CEO was also announced. James moves into the role after six years as Auckland Hockey General Manager, continuing a management career dedicated to not-for-profit and sporting organisations.

James said “I am thrilled to be announced as AHA CEO, we have a fantastic community and sport, with some incredible opportunities in front of us. I am looking forward to the challenge of leading the organisation forward, harnessing those opportunities and continuing to help contribute to the incredible legacy of Auckland Hockey, now in our 121st year”.

Auckland Hockey warmly welcomes all of the newly appointed Board Members and Office Holders, who bring a wealth of professional, governance and hockey experience.

Finally, one last special thank you to those who’s tenures ended at the 2024 AGM. Thank you to our departing Board Members Carron Jerram, Simon Taylor, our interim Chair Vinod Patel, and our now Immediate-Past President, Ray Parmenter. Your significant contributions to AHA are greatly appreciated.
