Tamaki Makaurau Hockey has been very successful over the years with both our Tane and Wahine teams winning on numerous of occasions. For the last few years we have managed to send four teams to tournament and wish to continue this growth.
NZ Maori Senior and Junior teams are selected from this tournament, recently the Senior teams have been very successful at the NZ Heritage tournament and just this year the NZ Maori Senior Tane and Wahine teams competed in the Oceania Hockey 5’s tournament in the Gold Coast, both placing second and gaining a spot at the Hockey 5’s World Cup in Oman in January.
We are proud to say that Tamaki Makaurau are represented well in all the NZ Maori teams, with players from Auckland Hockey also well represented.
This year’s National Māori hockey tournament will be hosted by Aotea and held in Palmerston North over Labour Weekend, October 20th – 23rd

We are fortunate to have Jordan Tua helping us this year. Jordan is a member of Angitū, who were exceptional at this years Te Matatini. He is also a kaiako in Te Whānau Rūmaki o te Puna, at Westlake Boys High School.
Travel
This year travel to and from the tournament will be up to each player to organise.
Costs
We will be applying for funding to keep the costs down, however we cannot guarantee we will be successful. Further details regarding costs for this year will follow.
